The elasticity is almost at its end at the
Take Root Festival in Assen

Assen.
More than 150 people were waiting at the entrance of the cultural centre called DeSmelt in Assen, Saturday afternoon, at the opening of the Take Root Festival. This musical feast would last 8 hours and welcome 2300 visitors. Fifteen artists, some famous names amongst them, were to impersonate the American Roots Music on three stages in two rooms.
The two organisers, Tieme van Veen and Johan Kleine were shining with delight. "It was a successful party," says a cheerful Johan Kleine. "When Tony Joe White was performing in our prime hall, he did so for about 1500 people. The place could not have contained more people than that; the elasticity is almost at its end. The people must be able to move in order to collect some food and drinks."
But even the smaller Acoustic Hall was well frequented. The temperature regularly rose to unprecedented levels. Therefore it was necessary to open the doors during the breaks, to ensure that fresh air would enter the hall. Kleine considers the objective of the festival to have been achieved:" We are very keen on being able to present new names and in that we have been successful. There was something for everybody". Personally Kleine considers Tony Joe White to have been the top act. Besides being a great performer he also has a very kind personality. He allowed fans into his dressing rooms to get their CD's autographed. And of course his performance was perfect. But Fred Eaglesmith also stood as a rock". The artists also appreciate the Take Root festival; "We take good care of our performing artists that's why they feel at ease and that radiates from the stage".

The 8-hour musical festivity accounted for 2300 visitors.
